These terms are the agreement between you and Showkeep when you use the app or this website.

Using Showkeep

Showkeep gives you a personal, limited, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the app for managing a personal or household physical film and television collection. Showkeep retains the rights to the app, website, visual design and original software.

You must use Showkeep lawfully. Do not attempt to disrupt the app or its data providers, extract or redistribute the film catalogue as a competing database or use third-party material in a way that infringes someone else’s rights.

Your content and data

The information you add manually, including notes, ratings, shelf locations and custom artwork, remains yours. It is stored on your device unless you choose to export it.

You are responsible for keeping an appropriate backup. Showkeep includes backup and CSV export tools, but it cannot restore a library that was never backed up because it does not hold a server copy.

Film data

Film information and artwork are provided by TMDB and may be incomplete, delayed or inaccurate. Showkeep does not own that catalogue and cannot guarantee every title, edition or image will remain available.

Third-party names, posters and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not imply endorsement of Showkeep. See the Attribution page for more detail.

Accounts and fair use

Showkeep currently works without a Showkeep account. Apple’s App Store terms also apply to your download and use of the app. If optional paid features are introduced in the future, their price and terms will be presented before you choose them.

Film search, metadata and other online features are subject to reasonable fair-use controls. Showkeep may slow, temporarily limit or block automated, excessive or abusive requests so the service remains available to ordinary users.

Availability and changes

The app is provided on an “as available” basis. Features may change and external services may become unavailable. Showkeep will take reasonable care but cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Your local collection remains usable during an online service outage. If Showkeep discontinues its online services, locally stored collections and the app’s offline features will remain available for as long as the installed app and operating system continue to support them.

Responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, Showkeep is not responsible for indirect loss, lost collection data, unavailable third-party metadata or problems caused by devices, operating systems and services outside Showkeep’s control.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits a right or remedy that Irish or European Union consumer law does not allow to be excluded or limited.

Ending use

You may stop using Showkeep at any time and remove the app from your device. Uninstalling the app removes its local data through the operating system but does not remove backup files you saved elsewhere.

Changes to these terms

If a change materially affects how Showkeep is provided, the updated terms and date will be published here before the change applies where reasonably possible.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If the law where you live gives you mandatory consumer protections, those protections continue to apply.
